For clients who wish to request music that is not part of Alys Howe’s standard repertoire, there are two options:

  1. If the harpist believes that sheet music suitably arranged for the harp is likely to be available, clients should complete the “Special Request – Purchase Option” contract attachment, and provide a deposit or advance payment (if requested to do so by the harpist). The harpist will then search for the music, purchase it, and bill the client for the amount outstanding (if applicable). In signing the contract attachment, the client agrees to fully compensate Alys Howe by cash or cheque within 14 days of receipt of Alys Howe’s invoice.
  2. If the harpist does not think that sheet music arranged for the harp will be available, clients will be asked to provide for the harpist’s consideration:
  • a recording of their request
  • and, if available, sheet music arranged for another instrument(s) such as piano

These materials should be mailed to the harpist as promptly as possible. If the harpist feels that the music is suitable for the harp, clients will then be provided with an estimate of the costs to have the harpist create a harp arrangement of their special request. At this time, clients should complete the “Special Request – Arrangement Option” contract attachment and provide a deposit. In signing the contract attachment, the client agrees to fully compensate Alys Howe by cash or cheque within 14 days of receipt of Alys Howe’s invoice.

If the harpist finds the music to be unsuitable for the harp, or the request has been made without sufficient time allowed for the harpist to arrange the music, the harpist reserves the right to choose an alternate appropriate selection of music.

Special requests will be arranged on a per-hour rate scheme, which is usually $100.00 per hour, but may be higher (at the harpist’s discretion). Therefore the estimate is intended to provide a rough guide only, and costs may exceed or be less than was initially estimated.

For more information, consult the harpist about your special request.
